Habitat for Humanity of Horry County staff, volunteers, homeowners and more will gather to dedicate home #154 on Friday, July 10 at 1:00pm. A limited number of supporters and staff will gather in person, following all social distancing guidelines set forth by government officials. A live feed of the dedication will also be available via Facebook. The home is sponsored by Fund for Humanity.
Future homeowner, Dana, is the proud mother of her daughter, Giana. She has lived in Horry County her entire life and is currently working in the hospitality industry as a Guest Services Supervisor. Her daughter is 12 years old and is a gymnast who loves school and hanging out with her friends. In their free time, the Johnsons enjoy movie nights and going for walks on the beach. Spending time together as a family is very important to them, and they do it as much as possible.
Dana was accepted into the Habitat Home Buyer Program in September 2017 because of her dangerous and unrealistic housing conditions. She says the best part about being in the Habitat Home Buyer Program has been learning about money management and the importance of helping others. Habitat has given her a chance at independence and the opportunity for homeownership, which is something she wants to pass down to her daughter.
