Niasia Closes on Her New Habitat Home
Inaugural Faith Build Celebrates Dedication Day
Habitat for Humanity of Horry County faith partners, volunteers, staff and more gathered together on Friday, December 16 for the dedication ceremony of Niasia’s new Habitat home.
Home #168 was sponsored by Horry County HOME Consortium and Habitat for Humanity of Horry County’s Faith Build.
Since inception, Habitat for Humanity has been built on a foundation of faith. The mission is to build safe, affordable housing with people in our community, and that comes from a desire to put God’s love into action.
“In July of 2022, 8 churches in Horry County joined together to build a safe, affordable home for a local family in need. They each feel a deep calling to be the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth, and they certainly displayed His heart as they pooled funds and volunteers to make homeownership a reality for Niasia Barner and her two precious sons,” states Development Director, Rachel Kennon. “I have been honored to be part of this journey and look forward to celebrating all that God has made possible with this special family on the 16th.”
Churches that participated in the Faith Build and supported Habitat’s efforts are listed as follows:
- Wellspring Church
- Christ the Servant Lutheran Church
- Kingston Presbyterian Church
- Midtown Vineyard Church
- First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach
- Surfside Presbyterian Church
- Sandy Grove Baptist Church
- Ocean View Baptist Church
“We are so grateful to be a part of the good work Habitat for Humanity is doing here in Horry County,” says Nathan See, Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. “This Faith Build has been another wonderful opportunity to show the love of Christ to others and we look forward to future chances to partner with Habitat.” First Presbyterian Church helped found the Horry County affiliate of Habitat for Humanity in 1990.
Through the Habitat for Humanity of Horry County’s first ever Faith Build, Faith Partners, volunteers and supporters had the opportunity to display God’s love and engage with other churches in the community – working alongside one another and future Habitat homeowners like Niasia.
