As a single Mom, Ayanna decided to apply for the homebuyer program to provide a stable and secure home for her and her children, Adrian, Amir, and Braylen. She currently lives in Conway and works with Atlantic Urology and Horry County Schools (Ability Beyond Barriers) as an on-call PRN/relief Staff Member.
To Ayanna, homeownership will bring financial security and pride of knowing that she is creating a better future for her family, and the start of new opportunities. As a family, they love movie nights with lots of laughter, cooking meals together, playing games, and having outdoor adventures like trips to the park or picnics where they can relax and connect.
Some of the high points in her life as a mom revolve around the moments she shared with her children. The day each of them was born was life changing, filling her with a sense of purpose and love. Another high point has been overcoming challenges and achieving personal goals. Some of the low points were the times when she was struggling to make ends meet and felt overwhelming, especially as a single parent. These challenges have made her stronger, more determined, and endlessly committed to her family.
The Habitat experience thus far, has helped her gain a deeper appreciation for the process and the hard work that goes into building a home, the importance of a supportive community and that it’s okay to ask for help when needed. The journey has also taught her that with determination, homeownership is possible, even when it feels out of reach.
Earning sweat equity hours has been an empowering experience for Ayanna. It challenged her but gave her a sense of accomplishment, whether it was helping with construction, attending workshops, or volunteering in the ReStore. She got to meet other families and individuals who are going through similar experiences, creating a sense of community and shared purpose.
She wants to celebrate this new chapter in a way that’s fun and meaningful. Decorate the kids’ rooms, making each one a special space that reflects their personality and dreams, and create a home where her children feel safe and loved and comfortable. “Most of all, I’m eager to make this house a loving home. Filled with love, a space and a hope for the future.”
Home to Ayanna is where you build dreams, grow together, and find peace. It’s a place filled with warmth where we can just be ourselves, no matter what the world outside.
A favorite scripture of hers is 1 Corinthians 2:9 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love him.” No matter what challenges or obstacles one faces, God has incredible plans for her and her family.
