Bank Employees and Representatives Participate in Build Day, Supporting Affordable Homeownership Opportunities in Horry County

As a continuation of Bank of America’s grant support and partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Horry County, the organization hosted company employees and representatives for a Build Day on April 29th. The build day, part of BofA’s Global Service Month in April, continues the bank’s support of Habitat’s efforts to increase new home production to meet the rising need for affordable housing.

On Build Day, Bank of America staff and representatives will work on a new construction home on Long Avenue Extension in Conway.

With all Habitat home builds, a Habitat homeowner works to purchase a home by saving their closing costs, paying off debts, and ultimately becoming financially stable and ready for homeownership. With Habitat homeownership, the goal is that each homeowner becomes financially successful and independent. To Habitat, this is a perfect example of mission fulfillment – seeing families achieve stability and self-reliance.

This achievement of stability and self-reliance is also met through financial literacy programming provided by the organization in partnership with companies like Bank of America. Most recently, Bank of America staff has been conducting monthly financial literacy classes with Habitat Homebuyers through their “Better Money Habits” initiative. According to Bank of America, Better Money Habits is part of the bank’s “commitment to fostering economic mobility and financial education”. Habitat Horry County’s commitment to service goes beyond individual homes through the expansion of their efforts to include neighborhood revitalization and critical home repair – fostering a sense of community and preserving affordable housing.
