We are thrilled to announce the dedication of a new Habitat for Humanity home for Rachel Pertelle and her three children! This joyous occasion marks the second Habitat home in the burgeoning Owen’s Creek neighborhood in Conway, SC, and is a powerful testament to community and partnership.

What is Women Build? The Power of the Hammer
Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program is a transformative initiative. It brings women together from all walks of life—no construction experience needed—to learn trade skills, fundraise, and build safe, affordable homes.
The goal is simple: to empower women by putting the tools into their hands, breaking down stereotypes, and addressing the critical need for affordable housing. When women lead the effort, the impact on families and the community is profound. For Rachel, this program didn’t just give her a home; it gave her the confidence to learn a new skill: how to use a hammer!
A New Start in Owen’s Creek, Conway, SC
Rachel, a dedicated single mother and Medical Practice Assistant, has worked incredibly hard on her journey to homeownership. Her dream was to have a loving, stable place to raise her children—a dream she carried with her from her previous small home in Conway.
Her new house is located in Owen’s Creek, a new neighborhood in Conway, SC, that is quickly becoming a beacon of affordable housing. As the second Habitat home in this community, Rachel’s dedication is a significant milestone that contributes to the vision of a stronger, more stable future for many families in Horry County.
Thank You to Our Dedicated Sponsors
This life-changing event would simply not be possible without the incredible dedication of our community partners. We extend our deepest gratitude to the sponsors who were instrumental in bringing Rachel’s dream to life:
- CRG Homes
- State Farm Wade Davis
- Horry County Government
- Law of Office of Natasha Hanna

Their commitment ensures that Rachel and her children, and other families like them, have the foundation for a life filled with stability, strength, and hope.
During the emotional dedication ceremony, which included the Litany of Life and the Presentation of Keys, Rachel’s excitement was clear. Her favorite Bible verse, Mark 9:23, captures her journey: “If you are able! all things are possible to one that believes.”
With the ribbon cut and the keys in her hand, Rachel and her family are ready to fill their new Owen’s Creek home with love and start making lifelong memories.
