Myrtle Beach, SC – Habitat of Horry County and Bank of America celebrated another year of their longstanding partnership with a volunteer build day. Bank of America teammates rolled up their sleeves painting, drywalling, and doing finishing work inside a new construction home at 185 Hamilton Way in Conway, SC.
The construction work capped off a year of two builds, a dozen financial education workshops, and funding to support Habitat’s efforts to increase new home production to meet the rising need for affordable housing in Horry County.
For 35 years, the organization has proudly built more than 170 homes in Horry County. With all Habitat home builds, a Habitat homeowner works to purchase a home by saving their closing costs, paying off debts, and ultimately becoming financially stable and ready for homeownership. The goal is that each Habitat homeowner becomes financially successful and independent. To Habitat, this is a perfect example of mission fulfillment – seeing families achieve stability and self-reliance.
This achievement of self-reliance is also met through financial literacy programming. Bank of America, as part of its commitment to fostering economic mobility and financial education, frequently conducts “Better Money Habits” financial literacy workshops with Habitat Homebuyers in Horry County.
