Homeowner Success Story – Aishante

"I will always have somewhere to call home, where we can grow as a family and we can make new memories together."

Fellow Habitat homeowners, homebuyers, core volunteers, staff, community supporters and more gathered recently for the dedication of Home #156 on Lyons Lane. Aishante is now a proud homeowner along with her son Landon.

Wells Fargo, through Habitat for Humanity International’s Wells Fargo Builds grant program, sponsored the build of Aishante’s new Habitat home.

Aishante says that she applied to the Habitat homebuyer program to create a safe and stable environment for her son. Throughout her Habitat journey, she learned a great deal about saving money and the importance of credit, while participating in the homebuyer financial literacy classes.

Now that she is a homeowner, Aishante knows that this change will have a lasting, positive impact on her life as well as her son’s. She says, “I will always have somewhere to call home, where we can grow as a family and we can make new memories together.”

The joy on both Aishante and Landon’s faces on dedication day was evident. Celebrating along with Aishante and son, and helping with the dedication ceremony were Minister Trudy Gause and Rev. Margie Bellamy. Both blessed each attendee of the dedication with powerful, inspirational messages.

As Aishante and everyone in attendance received the blessings of the day, Aishante felt a sense of confidence, knowing that her son would one day understand and appreciate all her hard work.

“This journey hasn’t been easy,” Aishante says, “but when I count my blessings, I count my Habitat family twice as much.”
