Habitat for Humanity of Horry County staff, volunteers, homeowners and more gathered dedicate home #151 on Friday, October 30, 2020. The home was sponsored by Habitat’s Collegiate Challenge, Fund for Humanity and Terminix.
New homeowner, Rachelle, has lived in Horry County since she was 19 years old. She is originally from New Haven, CT. She is mom to Brianna, 17 and Javon, 12. In their free time, the Smalls family loves to enjoy time with each other playing UNO, listening to music or watching movies. Rachelle and Brianna can also be found cheering on Javon during his football and basketball games.
Rachelle joined the Habitat Home Buyer Program in September 2018 because she wanted to provide a home for her children with rooms of their very own. She hopes that through this program she has taught her children the value of hard work and determination. She hoped to teach them the importance of helping others. Rachelle said the one thing she was most excited about when it came to homeownership was cooking the first meal in her new kitchen. At the time, she had not planned the menu yet, but we know it was a feast! Rachelle and her family are truly grateful for all the love and support they’ve received from volunteers and staff at Habitat.
