New Habitat homeowner, Candace Ferguson, is the proud mother of a 5-year-old daughter, Skyy and a 10-year-old son, Samir. She applied to Habitat to provide a better living environment for her family. Her children will now have their own rooms and a yard for playing outside – something they haven’t been able to enjoy previously.
Since joining the Habitat homebuyer program, Candace says that the most important thing she has learned is that saving, budgeting and good credit are very important to the successful future of her family.
Throughout the program, she has enjoyed meeting different people and organizations who have helped her goal of homeownership become a reality. Doing hands-on work alongside the volunteers and other homebuyers has allowed Candace to learn more about the varying life experiences of others.
“The fondest memory I have from my Habitat journey has been meeting new people, making new friends, working on my home and the homes of other homebuyers,” Candace says.
Now that she’s closed on her new Habitat home one of the first things Candace says she will do is decorate her home and host a seafood night for her family.
